What About Being a Dictator?

This is my first post written in English. I believe that, sometimes, it is a good idea to make the things in a different way. Well, as I am a capricornian, sometimes I have some delusions of power. And I get myself dealing of the idea of being a kind of ruler. Not a democratic one, this is not the way of a capricornian.

There is a basic and essential problem in democracy. In a democracy, the government is intended to be chosen by the people. But the people is too dumb, too short-minded, too superficial to realize their real needs. Moreover, there are other members on a democratic government, such as senators, judges, ministers, and all sort of parasites, only concerned with their own businesses, instead of the people who put them there, with a handful of exceptions (which end up silent or dead, after all).

No matter how much education you provide to the people, how much information, science, good examples. Only a few people make good use of these notions, being the other ones, the vast majority, only concerned with silly things. They don't know, neither want to know anything else, just awaiting to be fooled by someone a little smarter than themselves. If they are unable to carry out their own lives, it reasonable to suppose that they are not able to intefere with the destiny of the nation.

For this reason, I defend a form of absolutism. Of course, by now absolutism walks side by side with the notion of dictatorship (mainly if we consider our current notions of democracy). Of course, it would not be an absolute government inherited from some bloodline with "divine rights". Instead, it would be conquered by merit and wisdom. Because people don't know what is right, so, somebody wise enough must show them the right direction and push them into this direction.

Of course, this is not an easy matter. People are too lazy, and some form of "incentive" must be provided, in order to put in motion some more complicated issues. By the way, if people were not so lazy, maybe an absolutism would not be necessary.

However, as I said, not all people are dumb. Some people think and, from these ones, some would not agree with this kind of government. This group is divided into two parts. One part is too static, and would only be growling around, nothing to be considered dangerous. The other part is the big problem. Besides being able to think, they are able to convince others - dumb people - that the government is wrong, and must be overtaken "on behalf of everybody". Of course, there is sincere ones, idealistic, thinking that everybody, like them, can think and decide things by themselves. But the majority wants only to pull the strings of this dumb mass, in order to achieve power. So, the riots begin... and the riot control... and all the order starts to crumble.

Apart from these external factors, other ones may - and certainly do - disturb an absolutist government. A king/emperor/dictator may not by everywhere, everytime, he is not a god. He must assign tasks to subordinates, and must trust them and believe that they are doing the best. But the things don't work this way, because people is DUMB, LAZY and EGOISTIC. Of course, if something goes wrong, it's government's fault, not somebody's fault. This way, the governor image gets damage, no matter how well he performs.

In future posts, I'll discuss some other points of dictatorship and present some way of dealing with the hardships I presented here.

    Ave, frater!
